Quilted Walnut!?

I bought a pallet of rejected hardwood blanks for gun stocks. About one third is common maple, one third figured maple, and one third walnut. Here’s photo of a walnut blank which has an edge with birdseye or burl. I’m not sure which one is technically correct. What really surprised me was the quilted figure in the walnut. These blanks cost me about $1.01 per board foot. They’re just right for resawing into pieces for boxes. What a find! The figured maple alone was worth it. Now I’m finding high grade walnut, too!
