Topic tags/keywords: lathe chuck accessories I was given a Fisch TC 90-100 minilathe as a gift. I am told I need to get chucks for it, and 1 4 jaw chuck and a Cone or flat chuck have been recommended. Any opinions? Should I be getting top of the line or more moderate quality? Any other accessories that I should get? I plan to make boxes and maybe furniture parts with it. -- Boss Hog |

ususally a 4 jaw. Go to Penn State Industries at http://www.pennstateindustries.com/ they have a lot of moderately priced lathe tools. A combo set like this or others might be a good start http://www.pennstateind.com/store/csc2000c.html You will need to know the tread size for your lathe in order to get the correct chuck that will fit. -- I've been blessed with a father who liked to tinker in wood, and a wife who lets me tinker in wood. hey bosshog – you posted re: your lathe a long time ago. did you get it sorted out? use it? like it? i am a lathe newbie and i have an opportunity to buy the Fisch TC90-100 new in the box for 150 bucks. sound like a deal to you? not so sure the added expense of chuck and other tools is something i can manage… any feedback appreciated! -- "Take extra care not to lose what you feel" (Winwood/Capaldi/Wood) |

The lathe is worth $150, but only if you can get the chucks and tools. Start simple and make sure you enjoy turning before getting a full complement of chucks and tools. -- Boss Hog |
