This will hopefully raise revenue to the site but also give members especially some of those who don’t have very large budgets to get some quality gift cards to some great websites or even big box stores or even give away tools.

The system would only allow a single user to spend only a certain amount of money per raffle. $1 gets ou 1 ticket $5 gets you 6 and $10 gets you 12 tickets. I think $10 per user would be appropriate per raffle. This eliminating some users from spending $50 and having like 20% of the tickets in the pool. The raffle could have a permanent button you can click to take you right to the raffle.

Ammounts could range from $100 to LN or even a $500 gift card to whatever store or online marketplace the site admins deem good or even a new scroll saw or other piece of machinery or hand tool.

I think this could bring in some solid revenue for the site but also give members the chance to win some awesome gift cards/equipment.

This is just an idea but I am sure it can be expanded upon to where if the site introduce paid memberships hen every paid member gets an automatic 1 raffle ticket in every raffle.

Also this isn’t a lottery where if no one gets the winning # then it rolls on but instead there is an absolute winner for each raffle. Maybe leave the raffle period open for 1-2 weeks or longer depending on the size of the prize.

Hopefully the members of this site like this idea and I hope the admins do too!

I guess my reading compression isn’t very good so I have to ask, why are we trying to raise revenue for this site?

Seems to me they have plenty of advertisers. Is this site in financial trouble? I don’t understand the need for a raffle.

the point is for us and the positive side effect would be the site could profit from it and maybe they could get rid of the ads you all see. Idk I just thought it would be cool to have a raffle once a month or something for a large amount of money to like LN or LV.

Sorry my OP my be a bit long winded and stray off lol. I just thought a raffle would be a nice way this forum could give back to the members either they can foot the bill and allow every member to just get 1 ticket or they could run it so that they can make some money on these so they could improve the site the engin that runs t get better servers idk…

The idea is well intentioned Lucas and I support alternative means of the site supporting itself. Personally I would not participate in a raffle.

Are raffles even legal for a “for profit web site”?

Wouldn’t be legal in my opinion. Lookup “illegal raffle” on Google.
