I recently received a Hitachi C12Y 12” Table Saw as a gift. Everything appears to be in great shape with the saw. The trunnions appear to be in line. The fence works very well. The only issue is that I am missing the Blade Guard and Riving knife. I am hoping to find an After market assembly that will work with this saw. I’ve found one located here: http://www.ereplacementparts.com/blade-guard-assy-p-189843.html but wanted to get some opinions before I purchased it. Here is a picture of the attachment bolt for the guard. I’m not familiar with how most attachments work but this one only tilts with the blade. It does not ride up and down with the assembly. I suppose that makes sense for a guard but less so for a riving knife by itself. Eitherway I would really prefer to have the guard+knife assembly installed before I do too much with the saw. I completely understand that this saw is quite old and produced in Japan. From everything I’ve researched it was a very well built saw back in the day. Remember, this was a gift to me. I didn’t have to pay anything for it. The saw I was going to get was around $650-$800 so this has worked out quite well for me. Any suggestions are quite welcome. - Andrew |
