Greeting all,

I was in my local Woodcraft this weekend and was shown the Steel City Granite mini lathe. Really looks sharp. I’m looking to get a mini lathe and had my mind made up to buy a Rikon mini. Does anyone have any thoughts on the Steel City over the Rikon?

Rikon has an indexing head, Steel City doesn’t (as far as I could tell).

Rikon has a 8” tool rest, Steel Citys is 6”

Rikon out of the box is smaller and can be extended, Steel City is one-size-fits-all (I believe) , so if you want something with a smaller footpring , the Rikon would fit that need.

can you tell which one will be my next lathe?

Thanks for your thoughts on this. I’m not in a big hurry right now so I can continue to look around and compare.
