Topic tags/keywords: marketing woodworking online promotion social media

I joined this site a few days ago and am very impressed ! This is my first thread on this forum and I hope to learn a lot and teach if i have to opportunity!

Im no stranger to woodworking and own operate a General Construction company in a resort town in western md. Cabinetry, furniture, and innovative ideas have always been a passion of mine. We handle a massive amount of tourism and second home owners. Getting a constant workload in construction came naturally as I the fourth generation of contractors in my family but it has been lacking the satisfaction that I want in my life. My perfectionist nature is only rivaled by the OCD behind it, which is a very useful combo when directed properly and applied to a service or product. I needed an outlet that would create revenue as well as giving me an outlet to be creative, innovative, and very detailed.

So I just set up a 4500 sq ft woodworking shop and have been turning some pieces out. I cant remember being happier. I am not prepared for a storefront at this time but I have attempted to set up shop online. The problem is that I just dont know enough.

I have social media accounts and can build websites to an extent etc…... I am having trouble figuring out how to use these in conjunction to effectively promote and sell.

I would liken my situation to figure and make all of the pieces of a cabinet or furniture piece but not knowing how those pieces fit together to assemble it.

If there is anyone who can help me I would really appreciate it ! I know this probably isnt the usual woodworking post but its a very important factor for any woodworker …..After all something has to pay the overhead to even make it possible!

You are a 4th generation who claims ” Getting a constant workload in construction came naturally as I the fourth generation of contractors in my family ”

I kind of doubt your going to find more resources then the one you are so fortunate to have,

Some play a musical instrument for money, some cook for money, some draw for money, happy are those who don’t and do it from passion and their love of the arts.

That said, Pinterest, Houzz, Etsy, even Google and many more might help. If you pay them a premium you come up first on their search engines

years ago 411 Locals got me 1st and 2nd on local Google search in a few weeks.. I’m retired and that was probably 2009 when the economy crashed. I hadn’t even had a number in the phone book for 20 years, so worked out well. I was an electrical contractor. Not sure if it is current info?
