How to post video?

To post a youtube video on LJ and have it show
up a playable picture instead of a blue like you
have to use the “old” embed code in the share
section on youtube. It’s a check box.

That doesn’t work anymore. It seems that youtube no longer has the “use old embed code”. Is there a different way?

Or, if it’s there, I can’t find it anymore.

yea… i tried the old embed code… but youtube does not give as an option any longer. Guess we best upgrade LJ site, along with a fancy android app ! Oooooo…. i would actually pay for that.

OK this works.
Do a screenshot of the opening frame of your video and save it as a photo.
Copy the plain share link for the video.
Insert the screenshot photo in your text
Highlight the code for the photo and hyperlink it to the share code that you copied.

Example:

It’s a bit of a work-around but it does work.

yep, can see the video. but kind of… 3rd world backwater way to get something so simple as embedded video’s done.

It should be as simple as this. (Without using the “Embed Code”.)

On YouTube, below the video, Click on “Share”. That “Blues in the Link”. Click again on that. Choose “Cut”.

Come back here. Post whatever words you want to. Say something like (if you want to)

Link is HERE.

Blue the part you want to use as the link. Click on the Brown “Link” button (Second from the right). REMOVE the :http// they have already put in there (Why? Sometimes it will disappear on it’s own, sometimes not. ) Click on the space and hit “Paste.”

Post your reply and that should do it.

Now I’ll try mine and see if it works after all that ….LOL…

So! Let’s try it on my new “Nitro Fishing Boat” with a Special Option I also purchased.

It kinda “Sound Proofs” the Boat.

Youtube changed their embedding code a long time ago, I think it’s about time the forum made the upgrade as well.
