Topic tags/keywords: band saw blades

I finally decided to add a small 10” band saw to my shop to go with the 16” Band saw. I intend to use the small band saw to make toys and other small things and not to do any re-saw work.

I looked online for some blades in the 3/16”, 1/4” and 3/8” sizes with a length of 70-1/2” and there are some brands that I have not heard of.

I am certain that the Timber Wolf, Olson and Laguna blades would be fine. There were two brands – Powertec and Magnate that I have not heard of before. What do others use on a small band saw?

I managed to purchase the Rikon 10” saw from Woodcraft yesterday that came with a 1/4” blade. Woodcraft also had available Olson 1/8”, 1/4” and 1/2” 70 1/2” blades. The sales associate that I worked with has owned the Rikon 10” saw and he uses these blades and gave them high marks for durability and cutting. The price is right too, 12.89 for the 1/8” and 1/4” with the 1/2” blade at 15.29. I bought a 1/2” to use with the saw but haven’t tried it yet so can’t really tell you how well it works.
