Topic tags/keywords: olive wood box memory walnut lumber joining modern question resource

I am looking to do a project for my soon to be niece. I am wanting to do a walnut memory box with olive wood to contrast it as I am planning on dovetails for joinery. The only problem I have is that I don’t have a lumber supplier that stocks this particular species. I know Rockler will have pen blanks sometimes but I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything much bigger than that. So my question is, does anyone know of a good supplier of olive wood? I’m in Atlanta, GA. if anyone knows of a place around town. If not are there any good sites to order lumber from? Thanks for any suggestions in advance!

John, the first place I’d call in Atlanta for a hard-to-find wood speces is Carlton’s Rare Woods and Veneers, on Hemphill Avenue, next to the Georgia Tech campus : 404-876-1144. Please report back, if you find it, and tell where.
