I have had the Earlex 5000 HVLP spray system for about four years and it has been doing a good job. ALthough I only spary about four or five times a year.

Today I sprayed water based Poly and as I was cleaning up I noticed a little bit of poly in the back half of the needle where the spring is located. I suspect that the seal that the needle is passing through is beginning to leak.

What can I do to prevent the leak?

Is the any preventative maintanence that I should have been doing?

If I remember correctly you're supposed to occasionally put a bit of mineral oil on the needle and then when it slides in it lubes that seal a bit. I try to do this occasionally. I believe you can replace that seal with a bit of disassembly. Perhaps Sam will come along and have a better answer.
