Bench Dog 40-125 ProPlate Large Blank – $22.50 on Amazon. Aluminium. $65 at Rockler.

I have one on the way. My phenolic plate is starting to sag a little.

Not bad, but 6 screws to change the insert? Then to level the inserts, you test, unscrew, shim with tape, screw the insert back in place, test again, etc.

Not a good design, but for the money not a bad deal at all. Keep in mind it’s not designed for most typical router table plate openings, so it’s not a drop in replacement. On the bright side, making a template is easy. Since the corners are 3/8” radius, you can position the plate in place, carpet tape 4 boards around it is, and rout the opening with a 3/4” diameter pattern bit and it’ll be a perfect fit.

Thinking about drilling and tapping holes for set screws to adjust. Or jack screws under the table. A project for this winter. Thanks for the tip on the template.
