Topic tags/keywords: minimax motor replacement

I have a Minimax Lab300 5-1 machine.. I really like the machine and it fits my needs and shop nicely. Unfortunately the jointer/planer motor went out. Minimax can get me a replacement in 5 weeks for apx $600. It is a 5hp, 3500 rpm 145t mount. I wanted to find a replacement motor but this has not been easy. There are plenty of open motors, but enclosed is another story. Compressor motors from Leeson are well priced but I am afraid they would suck in too much dust.. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Did you take the motor to a repair shop?

You may have to look around for a shop that can fix
Italian motors.

Have your say...
