Hi guys,
I’m at my computer designing a system of frameless kitchen cabinets for a client, he would like those euro style hinges. He asked for the door stiles and rails to be 1 3/4” wide, which will have glass inserts in them.

My quick question for anyone who could be knowledgeable in this, I am looking at euro style hinges on my computer, at the rockler website, they show very good pictures of the placement of the hinges on the cabinet and door, for there advertizing.

The pictures seem to show wide stiles on the doors, can anybody confirm for me through experiance of using these hinges, if these hinges will fit properly on a door with 1 3/4” wide stiles.

This way I can continue the cad work, and save me a trip to have to go into town to take a look at the hinges, at lowes.

Thanks guys.

I think that at Rockler you can see the layout of the hinges. You need a 35 mm hole and the center is 22.5 mm from the edge of the door. So 17.5 mm plus 22.5 mm equials 40 mm which is a little more than 1-1/2”. I would say that about 2” would be about the narrowest you should go.

Using the Rockler info, you can lay this out in a drawing along with the outer edge treatment and the inner detail for the glass.

I think that you are pushing it with 1 3/4” stiles and rails. You also need room for the glass dado. I think 2” would be better if you can talk the costumer into it.

thanks madts,
I think I will have to talk him into a wider stiles of at least 2”, because taking in account of a 1/4” rabbet for the glass.

Thankyou guys for being a big help for me to make a decision on the door design.

Have your say...
