The very first laugh we had was when we first met outside on their lawn and Bert and I discovered we both wore suspenders AND belts. That totally cracked all us up. We need the suspenders cuz neither one of us likes saggy pants below our “love handles” and I like a belt because I carry my big Leatherman on it, as I don’t like something that big in my pockets. So that explains the photo we took as we were leaving.

My wife and I had the most ENJOYABLE afternoon yesterday with Bert and his wonderful wife.

And I mean ENJOYABLE !!

What absolutely great people.

Touring the shop with Bert turned out to be of secondary interest to getting to know them and learning what great people these two are.

If you look at Bert’s shop on his personal LJ’s page, you will see everything that I saw. So I felt no need to take photos of the shop, etc.

He really uses his GREAT shop.

If you look at his shop photos you will see many many well engineered goodies.

The fact that Bert is an engineer is VERY evident in so many places in his shop.

Customized tools to better do the job he needs.

Better and quicker ways to do stuff with tools that most of us can only dream of.

Very organized.

Lots of work table space.

He has “invented” and built/added SO many improvements in his shop, it was mind-boggling.

Tons of wood.

Great lighting, both natural and electrical

220 and 110 outlets everywhere.

All the hand tools and power tools anyone could possible want.

But it was his “personal engineering touch” touch that impressed me the most.

Bert is really and truly a knowledgeable and skilled craftsman.

And not just in wood, but also in designing improvements to tools, coming up with ways to have a single tool or bench do many many more functions than is normally the case.

What a great shop built by a great engineering and creative mind.

I am going to steal a couple of Bert’s shop ideas and incorporate them IMMEDIATELY into my shop. Pure Genius.

As I said, the shop and his projects were secondary (as it turned out) to discovering Bert and his wife to be the absolute most wonderful people.

Bert cooked and his wife cooked …........ and we had the most wonderful meal….......... in their beautiful home.

Our wives immediately found common ground and became instant friends.

Bert’s wife is a very very special person and we so enjoyed our meal conversation and “getting to know them”.

We discussed so many issues that, as it turned out, were very dear to all of us.

It was a wonderful visit.

So, now we get to return the favor and they will visit us next. We live about two hours apart, so it is not a major effort to go visit.

We hope they enjoyed our visit as much as we did.

And we hope they enjoy their visit with us in the future just as much.

Great people (and a great shop)

Great visit with great people.

I wish they lived right next door.

For a couple of guys who do not live that far from each other, it took you long enough to get to know each
other. Glad that two great Lumberjocks got to enjoy each other and that their lovely ladies also like each
other. Thank you for sharing.

The more I look at the picture at the top of this post, the more I think that these are two very handsome men.
(must be the suspenders, they are sexy)
