I got super blessed today. A friend of mine came up to me today and told me she had something for me. She ran across this guy that was throwing away (GASP!!!) a huge lot of books. She went through them and found 12…. Yes TWELVE old woodworking books. She immediately thought of me and snagged them before they ended up in the burn pile. There are 8 Popular Science Woodworking Projects books. 1985-1991 and the 1992 10th Year Anniversary Woodworking Projects Yearbook. There’s a “Scroll Saw For The First Time” book that I’m hoping to get my daughter interested in. A better Homes and Garden “The Best of Wood Book 1”. “Taunton’s Complete Illustrated Guide to Working with Wood. ”. And lastly a book simply called “Woodworking Projects Yearbook” I’ve went through a few pages in one of the books and have already found a project I want to build soon. I am going to love going through these books. It’s been a crazy weekend. School starts next week here and it seems like everyone decided to try and cram things into this weekend. I’ve been super busy and haven’t been to my shop since early Friday. I had several projects I wanted to work on. Guess I will get to them in time. So while out running crazy I got a text from my friend saying there were lots of 2×3’s out at this place I’ve gotten free wood at before. I stopped by. I found one 2×3. The rest were all 2×4’s. These were 8’ ones at that. I loaded my van up. There were also about a dozen shorter ones that were probably at least 2’ long, some 3’. It was a nice score. This place has two piles. One is sort of a “burn pile” But I’ve gotten some nice boards from there. The other is usually riddled with 2×3s. Which I have gotten quite a few of. This place builds barge hulls. I’m not quite sure what they use this wood for. But they constantly have a very nice pile out there. I probably have about a dozen 2×3’s from the last haul. Of course… all 8’ plus some shorter ones. This time I got 8 2×4s. And they are nice ones. So… I’m pretty excited about my score today. Cant wait till tomorrow. I plan on building one of JSB’s (Jays Custom Creations) outdoor chairs and tables out of my newly acquired 2×4’s Can’t wait!!! |
