Good morning yall!! Just for fun wondering who all out there is near my neighborhood in central Minnesota. I live in Litchfield on Lake Ripley about 70 miles west of Mpls. Also any other truck drivers out there? Anyone else hoping to make a living woodworking “someday”? Have a blessed day!!

Good morning, Marty! I’m not too far from you, I’m in Renville about 25 miles SW of Willmar. As I said earlier, my pastor is from Litchfield. Hoping to give woodworking as a side business a try, my church keeps me busy with various woodworking and carpentry projects. I’m also involved in the church music group.

Depends on what you consider near by. I am in South Dakota.

So do you do woodworking while at rest stops? I imagine that if I drove a truck, I’d bring a small toolkit of hand tools with me to do a little bit of WW on the side. Perhaps even bring something like Schwarz’s milkman bench:

Wow yea i should! Sometimes Im sitting for hours waiting to get loaded or unloaded. Instead of just thinkin up more ideas i could do some carving or even bring a small scrollsaw! Or even a box of small stuff to sand.

I am now doing woodworking as a ‘business’ – we recently moved to Minnesota from Texas, my wife’s job. I decided since I left my job in Texas that I would focus on woodworking. I do mostly turning, bowls, pens bottle stoppers, anything I can get hooked up to the lathe! I also do cabinets and some furniture, normally things my wife see’s and thinks it can be ‘knocked out real quick’ – ha!!

My wife has a Dodge pickup. Does that count? If I’m good, she lets me drive it. Welcome to the LJ site.
