Topic tags/keywords: birch plywood sheet goods

Whenever I am at Lowes I always scout out the lumber department and see what they have on offer. Today, I noticed a much better than normal supply of 3/4 Birch plywood. It’s no Baltic Birch but for shop cabinets it looks great. Flat and well finished with one “show” side and a reverse that looks pretty good with clean joins at about 8” spacing. The boards had no voids and were flat and true. At $46 per 8×4 sheet I snapped up half a dozen sheets. I asked the guy who helped me load it where it came from, he said they just switched suppliers. I told him it was about time. The boards are from Roseburg forest products, out of Oregon I believe. Worth a look IMO.

Their new supplier hasn’t reached Albuquerque yet. Must have been snowed in somewhere.

I notice about a year ago that the Lowes that I go to, started to carry plywood that was made in the US and Canada. In fact they started to carry Maple plywood for less than $50.00. I went to the manager and told him its about time they got rid of the cheap Chinese sh*t plywood.
