Topic tags/keywords: pen turning parker gel pen turning Are there any kits out there to make a gel refill or a Parker refill fit into a 7mm tube? I am making a few for family and friends that like the smaller feel, but they want a gel style writer. I can find all sorts for the 8mm, but just haven’t seen any in a 7mm tube style. -- People are like tea bags. You find out how strong they are when you put them in hot water. -Eleanor Roosevelt |

Gel refills come at 8mm, you might find some though google it and look at say Hut and Penn State woodworking. I use those two for my pen kits but I have four lines of pens I make regularly and they all use Parker or Cross refills. -- Live to tell the stories, they sound better that way. |

It’s just the 8mm ones that I have used. So won’t be of much help to you. |

Not sure where getting pen kits from but think need to look at size of blank required or finished size of pen and refill that comes with kit. Kits using 7mm tube from all vendors normally in slim line family and use cross refills. Plenty of thin pen kits to choose from, if want to save some money look into Introductory Products or Specials at Berea Hardwoods: http://www.bereahardwoods.com/pen-kit/sets/Flattop_Ballpoint_pen_double_twist_gold.html http://www.bereahardwoods.com/pen-kit/sets/Elegant_American_Ballpoint_24KT_Gold.html http://www.bereahardwoods.com/pen-kit/sets/Button_Click_Pen_with_Double_Center_Ring.html Have not bought kits from Craft Supplies in a long time but both them & Berea sold extra tubes already cut to size. Time to move out of your comfort zone, just have some fun with it! -- Bill |

Bill, it’s not a comfort zone questions, i have made several kits and varying sizes, I am looking at assembling my own kits using non-pen-kit material now and have a plan that requires the use of a 7mm tube, but I don’t want to be limited to the cross style tips. I will check out those links. -- People are like tea bags. You find out how strong they are when you put them in hot water. -Eleanor Roosevelt |

Over at penturners org have links to buying kit components if want to go kitless. Been to one site couple times, over my abilities. Do not have a link for that might check out “Advanced Pen Making,” over there for more information. Many folks take parts from standard kits and lose directions and do their own thing starting out. -- Bill |
