I am looking to get a bench top drill press for less than $200 the cheaper the better what would you guys choose? I was thinking maybe the Craftsman 10” or 12” I probably dont need the extra height but there are some extra features that come withit any suggestions?

I’ve got 2 bench drill presses in the garage right now: the Craftsman 10” and a large heavy duty off-brander I picked up cheap in a liquidation auction. I find myself going to the Craftsman 95% of the time. It’s a good little press. It’s got a good depth stop and It’s handy having the chuck key clipped on the side. It seems to drill holes as square as I need them and I do a lot of small, fairly precise work. The table raises and lowers well enough. I’ve never found the laser useful for anything I do, but it’s a cute feature.

I only use the other press when I need to fit a really large bit into the chuck, which is rare for me. The darned thing has no real depth stop at all and the shaft keeps sliding down. There’s definitely good and bad quality drill presses out there.

Defiantly the large harbor freight with 20% off coupon. Over 3 inches of spindle travel and 16 speeds and a 3/4 hp motor.
