It has been a while since I have tackled any big projects. I am going to build an oak desk but am looking for design ideas. It is going to be about 72”long by 22” wide. I want a heavy oak top in about 6 to 8 quarter thickness. I want it to have a rustic look. i am going to put three drawers about 4” in depth dovetailed to join. I might mix in a little mission style with through moritse/tenon joints on the lower braces. If anyone has any pics or ideas on a project like this I am all ears and eyes.

Lotsaglue, Based on your criteria you may want to check the desk I built for my wife in my projects. The top is not as heavy as you are proposing although it could be done with a heavy top. The desk has been in service more than a year now and LOML likes it very much still. I can tell because she brags on it. The desk is about 6 ft. Long and 22” deep and red oak.
