Topic tags/keywords: vise front vise bench vise

Does anyone have any experience with the Grizzly H7788 cabinet makers vise. I was wondering if it is any good. The price is sure right.

First, let me say that I don’t have and have never used a Grizzly vise.

However, I think most of the vises out there are made in just a few places around the world and resold under various brand names.

I have used a couple of Front Vises of similar design to the one you reference that is sold by Grizzly.
The first one was a Groz small model. It was useless.
I exchanged it for a Groz large model. It was just as useless, but cost more.
The two main problems with this style of vise is: 1. it does not have a quick release feature. 2. it will rack and bind up unless the work is perfectly centered, or you hold your work with one hand while holding a spacer block with your second hand, while you turn the screw with your third hand. ;^)

I just don’t like front vises. The all steel and iron Quick Release Face Vise is a much better tool. I have two of them and they work great. They cost about $90 and up, but they are worth the extra cost.

Judging by the reviews on Amazon, your money will be better spent elsewhere.

Good luck.
