I have heard of the “in the ring” Thien Baffle before, and I had considered it, but after seeing a demo on the JET Vortex Cone, I think it may be a good alternative.

Thing is, I will be using a pre-blower separator, so I don’t really need another baffle in the ring too. But the Vortex Cone doesn’t appear as though it will cause much restriction, and I’m thinking it may help keep what does reach the collection bag from migrating up and into the filter bag. Sort of “extra insurance”, if you will.

Any thoughts on this are appreciated!

Have you seen this site?
I may make a wooden one depending on how well my new cyclone separates the fine dust from my drum sander.

I don’t get it, I did exactly the ‘fix’ that SASmith references above and I’m still getting lots of chips in the filter. In-fact it doesn’t seem to help at all. I wonder what I did wrong?

Hozer, post a picture of what you added and maybe myself or someone else can give you some advice.

I’ve done a few things to my DC, and my bag stays pretty clean and the dust and chips in the collection bag don’t “stir up” when I turn the DC on like they did before I did the mods.

I’ve had good luck with the Cone myself, though I did do a bit of “tweaking” to get it working just right.

Like I said, post some pics of what you have and I’m sure we can figure out your issues.
