I used to purchase dimensional exotic hardwood lumber at a store in the San Gabriel Valley, I beleive it was on San Gabriel Blvd, but I can’t recall the name. It was a corner location with a wide variety of exotic species.
I aplologize for the dumb quetsion, but I was disabled for a long period of time and now can’t remember.
Thank you

You say So Cal but sounds like you are more in northern LA? I ask because i live in San Diego so mostly know places around here.

I live in the San Gabriel Valley.

There’s a place in Torrance I think I’ve bought exotics from, Eisenbrands. I’ve never heard of a place in San Gabriel.

The place you’re referring to was Pasadena Hardwoods on San Gabriel Blvd. in Pasadena. Gone now.

Probably Woodcraft is one of the few sources. We have one here in Ventura.

Valencia Lumber in Van Nuys has a good selection of exotic hardwoods and is only about half an hour from San Gabriel if no traffic.

When I lived in Glendale, I would drive down to Reel Lumber in Anaheim (they have other locations). It has been almost ten years since I was there so I don’t know how good their exotic selection is nowadays.

Aj2 is right. I live about a mile away from there as the crow flies. Great stuff, but you’ll pay for it.
On the bright side, it’s very close to Burgeon Brewing, which makes the finest hazy IPAs on the planet.

I’m still trying to figure out where stuff is here in SoCal, so forgive me if my suggestions are way off…

But, pre_Covid, I was going to

Most recently, I have been spending way too much money at Peterman Lumber in Ontario, but I know they have at least one other location.

I will be eagerly awaiting other suggestions! (I can always use another fix from another dealer)

My Dad said he grew up buying his lumber from MacBeath Hardwood in Montebello. Not sure if the location is still there, but worth a shot. Address was 7653 Telegraph and phone number was (323) 723-3301

Company still seems to be alive, but that location doesn’t seem to be there any more:
