Tried making my first live-edge bowl yesterday from some elm. It’s a fully green turning, and already warped into more of an oval overnight. Finished with tried and true varnish oil.

Looks really nice Allen. Kinda reminds me of Noah’s arc.

It smelled a little musky but not too bad. I’m not sure if it’s Chinese or American elm… I thought it was Chinese but the bark doesn’t look right.

Really nice. Perhaps red elm? It gets that nice dark heartwood I think.
