Topic tags/keywords: question

I’m going to be building two built in cabinets in a living room. My question is what should i do with the carpet that would be under the cabinet? Should I strip the carpet and pad from the area that is under the cabinets or is it typical to leave it? Any pros out there I would love to hear from you.

I would strip the carpet/pad and use molding on the front. Will make life easier if you ever add new carpet. Plus your cabinet will set flatter.

I agree with Howie, shimming off of carpet is frustrating.
