i have a delta unisaw 36-944 that was given to me. It has none of the factory safety features with it and after getting hit with a 2nd piece of wood flying back at me i need to find something to make it safer. Looking for recommendations.

Splitter…put a splitter in. I made mine out of some sheet metal. Some designs on the web.
A uniguard works me also.

as said above.get a micro jig works great and is easy to set up.ive had one for years and no kick backs which can be very dangerous.

Try to find a disappearing splitter (Delta P/N 34-868). Here is one on e-bay.

+1 Delta disappearing splitter PN 34-868

Call Delta parts 8-5a EST 1-800-223-7278
They don’t have online inventory available, so you must call.

If Delta has inventory, can call one of the discount online parts sellers and have them custom order it for you. Mike’s Tools, or MM Tool Parts are usually least expensive on Delta direct ship parts orders.

The price has been increased with each Delta resupply the last couple years. They use to run $60-70. Most recent prices are near $100. Current retail list on ereplacement parts looks like $138, so older stock on fleabay would be best deal ATM.

Delta still sells the 1349941S splitter for Unisaw.
Note the blade is designed for blades greater than 0.110 kerf, and has to be removed .vs. drop down like disappearing splitter. If you still have the bracket for 1349941 splitter inside your saw, it is easy to DIY a new knife.

SharkGaurd will also sell a bracket with knife splitter for about same cost, if you don’t want full overhead blade guard.

Best Luck.

Totally agree on the splitter.

Second thing it so figure out why you are getting hit and what YOU are doing wrong! There is no one fix and technique is just as important.
