Topic tags/keywords: gate fence question video

Hi everyone.

I just installed a new fence this weekend. Today I installed a gate for that fence. I removed the crappy 1 by material and replaced with 2×4’s. The fence works great except for one thing. The gate has some bouncy / spring to if at the lower opposite corner of the top hinge.

Here’s a video to show a bit more detail.

Please not it is not sagging.

Any help would be appreciated.

Well this is wood, not concrete.
If you find it annoying, latch it at the bottom also.

there are metal reinforcement kits you can get at the home centers that have a turnbuckle placed diagonally that really stiffen up gates.

Door needs to be a couple inches wider, then hit a jamb of some kind.

I think the latch is mounted to high up. If it was more centered, or just above center it would take a fair amount of that out I think.
