found at an Estate Sale in Southern Ca.

No makers name.
Found a P 4 on the sole plate, nothing else.

I normally collect old Stanly Cast Iron Planes, but this one was different. Looks like Stanley tote and knob but…

Shelton…should have a patent number cast into the lever cap…..

That’s a Shelton No 4 smoothing plane.

You can see one here with only very minor differences compared to yours.
