Topic tags/keywords: walnut

I’m getting ready for my next project. This piece of wood was not identified when I bought it. It looks like walnut to me but I don’t have the experience to make a solid judgement. Again, I coated half of it with mineral oil to bring out the grain.

I think we can say (with some confidence) that it is Black Walnut. Here is a photo of some I’ve been working with on several recent woodcarvings. It looks identical on several levels.

Looks like walnut to me.
