Topic tags/keywords: planer blades craftsman

I have an older Craftsman handheld power planer and the blades are shot. From several searches of the intertubes, it looks like they are no longer made. They measure 3-5/8” (92mm) long. Does anyone have a suggestion on where to find them or a substitute?

Can you get them re-sharpened?

Thanks adot45.
I’ll measure the depth. I think it might be 20mm vs the 29mm listed. I suppose I could grind it down if it’s too deep.

The blades are pretty beat up, not sure I want to resharpen. There aren’t any resharpening services within 200 miles either. I’ll need extras anyway.

Can you tell us the model number for the planer? I doubt you will find NOS knives, but there is hope… Find a re-sharpening place and take or mail them the knives. Tell them you want them resharpened and also ask how much they would charge you to make a duplicate set. Most all sharpening services can make just about any knife you need if they have a pattern to go by. For a lot of machines, that is the only way to get new knives.

Cheers,
Brad

Thanks, I’ll look into that.
Don’t have the model number handy right now.
