Topic tags/keywords: jig

Will the FBI come knocking if I use a 1/2” half blind dovetail jig on the corners of a roughly 13” x 5’ x 3/4” hardwood frame?

I have a big Leigh through dovetail jig, but I’m not enjoying using it. Not worth going into detail why – I’m just interested in opinions about whether the small dovetail joints would be silly on such large boards.

TIA

It is pure aesthetics. If you like it, then it is great. Historically, smaller tails were used, so there is no right or wrong.

Great, thanks. The aesthetics are actually less important than one would think in this application, since it’s only the rear of the frame. But I want to dovetail it.

I’ve already alerted the authorities, pay no attention to any helicopters flying over your house the next few weeks.

Ah, I was wondering what those Blackhawk things were doing in my neighborhood.

It’s not likely that the FBI will show up, but I’m almost certain that it’s known to cause cancer in California.

Carcinogens cause cancer in red states too, they just value money over lives. ;)

As long as you put the prop 65 warning sticker on it you’ll be fine. Out here it’s on absolutely everything. As a result, no one pays attention any more.
Looks good
