Hi folks,

I’m moving overseas from a house in the states with a complete shop to an apartment. I’m leaning towards getting a track saw so that I can still work on some projects.

The country I am moving to has 220 and tools are much more expensive there so I’d like to pick up a track saw here and bring it there but need it to either be cordless or 220 volt.

I like the Makita system but can only find it in 110.

Does anyone know where I can order it 220 in the states? Alternatively, can anyone recommend a high quality cordless system? I see that Dewalt has one but the reviews are poor.

Thanks in advance.

Nathan

I am personally looking at the Festool cordless, mainly for the dust collection bag. I’m guessing they have chargers for 220 since they are a german company

You can buy 230 volt power tools from Amazon UK. I imagine there’s a shipping surcharge.

You could also get a step down transformer to convert 230 to 115v. It would probably void the warranty but then again buying a tool in one country and then taking it to another might do so as well.

Thanks—doesn’t look like they will ship to me in the states.

I bought a saw from an ebay dealer in the UK once. Even if Amazon won’t ship maybe somebody else will.

That Makita saw comes in a cordless version.

Festool’s version does too. And will be cheaper in Europe and the UK.

Well thats kind of a broad generalization. I find UK prices higher than other parts of EU, especially with exchange rates(and even higher in London) Probably a lot cheaper in Germany but then you have the 20% VAT. I guess it depends on what country you are going to be living in and what you are close to in EU.

Have your say...
