This past weekend I went to an estate sale of a gentleman that was extensively into wood working, I picked up a couple tools in the sale for cheap first was a RBI 20 inch variable speed scroll saw in like new condition the other two tools were Veritas router planes one medium and the large which is missing parts to attach the irons and adjust how high the irons sit , I have been to the Veritas site to try and find parts to repair the large router plane veritas does not seem to sell parts for these planes other then the Irons. Can anyone tell me where I can get parts for the Large router plane so I can make it a working plane again as it is only a paper weight rite now but it was so cheap i figured it would be worth taking a shot, the medium is and a working plane complete The set I purchased appears to have been a complete large set with all irons and everything and then they added the medium plane I picked up both router planes and the scroll saw for under $125 |

Congrats on the tool find—I think you got a great deal. I think you are right that Veritas might not sell the parts you need through the website. You may try to contact them directly and explain to them what you need—perhaps something could be worked out? Here is a link to a contact page. If you send an email and it’s possible to paste or attach an image—a picture of the plane you have may help to clearly identify the model and what is missing. Optionally you could check out eBay or another used tool source to see if you could buy something cheap that has the parts you need. |

If Veritas cant help, can also try ebay. A lot of random parts on there for various tools. |

Being as I am fairly new to this Forum question (What Do I Win) LOL I was even honest with the girl running the sale and told her I thought she had under priced the wood working tools and there was a ton believe me but she said they just wanted to get everything sold so they did not have to deal with the loss any more it was her father the way i took it and she was physically hurting i did not even dicker with her on price. The quick conversation I had with the girl it was a all of a sudden unexpected loss |

I wish they had a section on their web site for just parts to make repairs instead of having to wait for a call back I have been playing around with the smaller of the two since purchasing it and they do seem to be well made all the bits fit the smaller one also so I assume its the medium sized according to Veritas web site neither plane seem to have been used much and that is puzzling to me as to how the adjuster stem and all the hardware to adjust the height of the irons became lost, i did not want to question to much because i did not want to upset the girl i dealt with any more than she already was and she probably did not know much about it any ways one thing I will note if the small plane is much smaller than the medium i don’t think I would even be able to use it because of the size of my hands which are large compared to an average persons the medium is almost to small. |

+1 They have internal only parts lists, and offer them for sale to existing owners. Lee Valley Customer Service has never disappointed me. If you don’t get a call back from technical service for your parts order same day, call them back. FWIW – I Klutz’d a cap iron for 3 year old Veritas block plane. Call the LV CS number, looking for spare parts list and prices. They sent me a free replacement. Even told them it was my @^&&^$! mistake and I should be forced to pay for the damage as a professional Klutz. They refused to punish me. :) Might end with Best luck. But you don’t need luck to get parts from LV! Cheers! -- If it wasn't for bad luck, I wouldn't have no luck at all, - Albert King - Born Under a Bad Sign released 1967 |

Btw, once you get it working, this site has some good tips and tricks and a “fix” for the adjuster etc: |
