Catching up a little on some yard sale finds from last year. First a Davis and Cook 30” level made in Watertown NY patent date Dec 7 86 Required about an hours worth of careful cleaning to the brass to make the covers shine up. 15 dollars.

Same day an estate sale at an old farm house this Stratton Brothers 28” level with wood case. Greenfield pat. July 16 1872. It was sitting on the dining room table in the case, with the dishes and silverware. 5 dollars. All I needed to do was wipe it with a soft cloth.
15 minutes between these two finds!

And two weeks later this Stanley Adjustable 30” level pat’d 5-8-06, 6-23-96, 7-17-94. About an hour with a little Brasso and OOOO steel to gently clean the bling. 10 bucks. Sitting on some shelves in the garage with some old yard tools.

And my wife actually goes on line, looks these sales up, and encourages me to go! Gotta love it!

Very nice Bob. Funny thing is that my complains about my tool collecting, then when we go antiquing she does the same thing. She likes to find a section in the Antique/Flea mall that has tools and then alert me to it. Kind of curious.

I picked up my first level a month or two back. I will have to photograph it and put it up here. I am out of town. It has a lot of brass.

I’ve started to wonder is she wants me out of the house for a more subversive reason. It can’t be about tools can it?
