I recently bought a replacement head for my g0453. I bought the wrong head the one I got is for a g0453w. Is there anyone here that would be interested in taking this new Byrd head off my hands.

That’s the 15” one, right? How much?

Does it include bearings? Or just the head and knives?

This is a 15” head but the only model it fits is the g0453W. The W is important that’s the mistake I made I don’t want to just pass my problem to someone else. It’s a Bryd t27625. I’m trying to get $450 out of it because that’s what I paid for it.

Welcome to LumberJocks!

Some of the Chinese 15” planers have head casting that is ~10mm wider than standard Taiwan models. There are WWW posts of users attempting to use the standard Taiwan version spiral head on the g0453W and the shaft is ~3/8 short, and gears are not in alignment. It works for some machines, sort of.

Going the opposite way would be serious problem, as the bearing on motor side would not be fully seated.
Oops.

If you paid $450, then it was not new when you bought it, or you have had this for long time? Grizzly price is $655 today. If new, not a bad deal for G0453W owner. :)

Best Luck.

If it doesn’t fit then I assume it was never used. Can’t you return it for the correct version or at least your money back.

It is new but it’s a open box. I bought it from someone off eBay. I don’t have a receipt to return it to a retailer. I called a few to ask about a trade in with no luck. I bought because it was a good price but failed to do my homework properly. I got a buddy that can modify it to work but I’d prefer to fine some one with a W that would like to buy it.
