(Repair, Joinery, Veneering & Refinishing related)

my beloved daughter, a/k/a The Dumpster Queen, found this piece in a dumpster
and wanted to give it to me to maybe re-purpose some of its parts.
after digging a little deeper into the bin, she found all the parts and put it back together
and researched it on the net ~ this is what she came up with.
[ I am just now getting the photos ].
(she remembers how I used to like veneer projects and she knows I could fix this).
I think it is time she learned to veneer things herself – this might be a good project for her.
I think I should send her a bag of Hide Glue and the veneer hammer I just recently made.
what say you guys ???

Good idea. No time like the present. Hard to tell if the top veneer is saveable.

I say you’re on the right track, give her the tools, support, and instructions as needed, and you’ll be doing her a favor. Looks like an easy restore, save the top veneer maybe, all solid wood, should be fairly straightforward.
Once she learns how, she’ll find the satisfaction that comes with “can do”.
Maybe we’ll see the restored version here on LJs.

oh, she is quite the woodworker crafts-lady and all around DIY gal.
she “knows” how do do veneer work – she just needs a refresher course.
and I think this is it. (Covid project #43)
Paul – she will probably order some new veneer from an online source.
