New to the forum and need help identifying a plane maker.
My father more than 25 years ago, ordered a very specific dove tail plane from someone that was in the business of making planes. The plane does not have a makers mark. I have included a few photos of the purple heart/ maple and maybe iron wood. The main plain body has all the parts bit the other plane is missing wedges and a nicker.
Need help identifying the maker and figuring out how to this goes together. I contacted Hock and they never made a dovetail plane kit. Anybody have any clues?

Did you also get the rest of the pieces for the smaller plane in the top picture? Cutter, wedges, nicker? Top plane is all there except I don’t see the depth stop shoe.

I think the smaller iron goes with the smaller plane. and has a V grind. The best fit for the small iron is where I would think the knicker goes. Perhaps it is the knicker and I am missing the other one. No wedges for the small one.
I have tried to set this up with no luck. Any ideas would help.

Hmm, most of the plane makers i have seen that sold wooden planes looked much more traditional than that, unless it was custom ordered like that. The only one that seems to use more exptic woods that I know is Bill Carter but that doesn’t seem like something he would make.

Have your say...
