There is a Powermatic 1150 standing drill press on craig’s list in my area for sale for $350. From the serial number it appears to be a 1966 model. It looks in decent shape and is supposed to be good running condition. Is it worth $350? And, can you still find parts for it if for example the bearings go out? |

That’s a quality machine and you should be able to find replacement parts, especially beatings that can be cross referenced, for some time to come. When you go check it out be sure to look it over good to make sure it’s never fallen over and check the spindle run out also. If they’re asking $350, they’ll likely take $300 unless several people already want to take a look (classic seller’s claim), be ready to negotiate with cash in hand for the best death. Oh, and make sure it’s single phase or plan on a VFD conversion or a used single phase motor. -- "Lack of effort will result in failure with amazing predictability" - Me |
