Should the washer for my miter saw blade sit with the flat side facing out or in against the blade?

I believe the flat side against the blade.

Ditto, for sure. Unless it has a raised rim on the non-flat side, in which case that side goes against the blade.

I like to take that washer and run it on some 220 sandpaper and see if its flat. Most have some imperfections from the stamping,
