Hi all, quick question or really just a observation. Recently I got a hold of a larger 1.5 hp grizzly/central mahcinary single stage dust collector. It is replacing my Jet 650 unit. I replaced the filter bag with a Wynn environmental .5 micron filter, doing the usual install, made a wooden donut, sealed it and then installed the pleated filter. The question is now, when I run the dust collector, the containment bag (plastic bag) doesn’t puff up as much as it used to. The system has plenty of suction and there is no dust leaking from the filter, bag or any other part of the system. Is the Wynn pleated filter that efficient? Previously using the bag style filter the plastic bag would puff up and I felt like it might blow out, but now it hardly does that. As stated, I’m getting plenty of suction and I’m picking up chips from my table saw, jointer and planer with no problem. Just doing a sanity check. Thanks for the help all.

Yes, your new filter is allowing more air to pass through it…which reduces the pressure on the catch bag. As that filter builds up a dust cake you will almost certainly see the catch bag inflate more.

Thanks, I just wanted to make sure I’ wasnt going crazy. The filter is great, and the suction is really good now. Thanks once again!
