Does anybody know of any good deals on SawStop table saws? When do they usually come about? How do I maximize my savings? Originally I was going to buy a used table saw, but I have since decided that the safety features (and my fingers) are worth the extra money (especially since I am no expert). |

If there is any, it will be the first time. You’ll find the Sawstop prices are tightly controlled by Sawstop, and about the only deal I’ve ever seen was if they offer a few free goodies to go with a saw purchase. Even those aren’t that big a deal. -- Our village hasn't lost it's idiot, he was elected to congress. |

Yes, the only price concession is either a mobile base or a vacuum port over the blade guard. that is about as good as it gets but hey if one of those works than be on the lookout for it. |

I thought I read somewhere about using a harborfreight coupon at a neighboring rockler store or some such thing? |

Good luck with that. (seriously) -- Our village hasn't lost it's idiot, he was elected to congress. |

Even if you did, and they play along – you’ll prob. find it excludes the name brand stuff like Laguna, Festool, and SawStop, ect… Stuff for which the price is controlled as part of the dealer agreement. |

Festool owns SawStop. As was stated above, the only deals that come around are ones that include freebies, not discounts on the price. Their idea of a sale is to announce price increases so you can hurry up and buy before they go into effect. BTW, if you do see a post that says Rockler will accept Harbor Freight coupons, look closely. It’ll probably be dated April 1st. -- Half of what we read or hear about finishing is right. One thing about those deals I found out a long time ago. If there a huge deal on something, by the time you’ve heard about it, it’s too late… They were selling roll around tool boxes one time at $450 box for $200 on a black friday at home depot. Called right as they opened. They said there was one Virginia. Guess they only need one for the sale.. Same thing on bessey clamps. I was prepared to buy $2000 worth the day of the sale.. called everyday till the Day of the sale. All had been spoken for before the sale. There wasn’t very many as the sales guide jndicated.. |

basically go to whatever dealer you like the best and get one, everyone sells at the same price,if a dealer gets caught giving any kind of deal unauthorized they lose the right to sell the product,as what happened to rockler with festool. -- working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF. |

I spend a lot of my hard earned $ at Rockler so they always seem to find a coupon for me, there almost always a 10% or 20% off coupon floating around. I was at another retailer about 6 weeks ago and I had a 10% off coupon. I was buying a Festool product and I knew that it could not be used on that item. They rang up my stuff twice and had to delete the transactions because they couldn’t get the coupon to work only on the non-Festool items. I ended up paying separately for the Festool item. Apparently that store already received a warning about accidentally allowing a coupon to be used on a Festool item on two different occasions. If it happened again that location may lose the ability to carry the brand. Ouch! -- NorthWoodsMan |

yeah rockler lost the right to sell there tools simply because they advertised a sale a week early.there is no gray area. -- working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF. |

+1 on this. Talk to the manager of a Woodcraft or Rockler and ask him/her if they have any “open box or damaged box” specials. You never know. Odds are it may be 5% tops. -- Measure twice, cut once. If you cut it too short get a wood stretcher. |

What does everybody think of buying a used sawstop? Is that a bad idea? Probably could save $500 or so (tops). I assume these saws are robust enough to handle some use and still be a great saw. |

Use, yes; abuse, no. Like any used tool purchase, you can get a good bargain if you’re a smart shopper. I’m not sure which model you’re saying you could save $500 on. With SawStop it could represent a savings of as little as 15% or less. I’d never pay more than 60% of current price for a power tool, and only that if it were in pristine condition. -- Half of what we read or hear about finishing is right. I was able to find a used sawstop that had only been used for a couple cuts. At the time, it was about $1k less than new. Another thing you might be able to do if you’re buying new from a retail store is ask for a discount on another item that you might want. Or ask if there is a cash discount. |

WoodWerks/thisiswoodworking.com normally sells their gift-cards at a 10% discount for Black Friday. I’m not sure if they can be used to buy a SawStop. -- Kjell - Eau Claire WI |
