Picked up a sweet deal on one of these today – which also underscores the need to keep up with posts on CL. I just ‘happened’ to log on and check out the Tools category and fell on this deal – it had been posted for just 33 minutes! Easily the best tool buy I’ve ever found.

In great shape, it came with four blades, a factory fence and has all those fingertip adjusters for the blade adjustments on the head and under the table, which make swapping out blades for different cutting chores a lot easier. The tabletop looks new and the saw runs super smoothly.

At home, I removed the casters off my Central Machinery bandsaw to put on this one. Also stole its plastic blade guard to swap out for the cheesy wooden one that came with the Rockwell (?). Snugged the upper wheel nut a tad and lubed the belt tension adjuster screw. Got a little fiddling to do to make the fence functional – just need a bolt that will trap better for fence lockdown. That’s all it needed.

Gonna reposition the power switch to the left side of the upper arm casting – will attach a flanged electrical box onto the rear guard sheet metal at eye height for easy access. Will also add a taller wooden guide to the fence for resawing duties – it will handle up to 6.5” wide workpieces.

Sadly, the seller is a 80+ gentlemen who was diagnosed with Lymphoma cancer last April – he’s done remarkably well with his treatment but it is Stage 4. Just the same, a brand new Grizzly bandsaw is sitting in his shop so he know how to keep himself busy. Better to count your blessing while you can, eh? And keep an eye on those tool listings in your local CL too…

Nice pick up. Sad about the man.

There has been very little in the way of ww’ing tools on CL in my area.

I’ve had better luck with estate sales, but you have to get there at the crack of dawn.

So I’m sitting here thinking “no pics, didn’t happen” and at the same time hearts to the seller, that’s a tough row to hoe.

My apologies for not having this tool fully configured for your review – I present it here now with a repositioned power switch and on its casters.

Oh man… that is blasphemy!! Replacing good wood with plastic – smh.

(btw: nice score ;)

Cheers,
Brad

If you saw the cheesy wood guard that came with this saw, you would be surprised – it was made of multiple pieces and looked homemade. The cheaper Chinese version is way better, Glad I had the other saw to steal that from.

They do here too! I was extremely fortunate to be checking CL that day -not too many worthwhile items come along.
