Yup. They’ll have to pry the chisel out of my cold, dead hand. :)

How much wood I have. Tear some old something apart, and make something else with it’s wood.

Taking my time replacing 1×4 trim on my house, HOWEVER, I am using PV 1×4s… Does THAT actually count as woodworking?...

Or am I falling behind the WW curve? ;-)

I actually stopped on the way to work and looked at some drawers stacked up for the trash pickup. The sides were decent but I have company coming and didn’t want to have one more thing on the to do list.

I feel ya, seeing an opportunity, and not being able to because life get’s in the way. Maybe we all need to get cloned?

Sometimes, if you have a HfH Restore near you they have what they call a clearing out, of old wooden pieces, cabinets, some doors, and just wood stock. I’ve been to a few that were worthless, and a few where it was like being in a well stocked lumber yard. They occur off and on all the time.

So if you have a local, or 5, stop in on a regular basis, or let them know to call you when they get to clearing house. Let them know you are looking for WOOD. and things wooden.

HMike…
Heck yes that counts! And using PV is a great decision. I live in Iowa, right in the heart of the Derecho, in fact the sq mile I live in was said to be hit the hardest in the Mid-West. All we have been doing is repairing our homesteads. I have used almost every tool I have except for the lathes. Keep going brother…it all counts, I’m right there with you!

I don’t know if it counts but it should . I told my kids, if they ever build a house have it entirely encased in vinyl. Painting is unnecessary that way. And a steel roof. No leaks and a very long life expectancy.

Then what happens? They get an electric car, solar panels on the roof and want wood because it’s ‘natural’. Ya, wait till the paint peels. Scrape and paint your entire house once and you begin to understand.
