it’s a sad day for music lovers, and especially for van halen fans as weve lost one of the greatest rock guitarist ever to play.he fought a long 10 year battle with throat cancer caused most likely for many years smoking.after spreading to his brain and other organs he could fight no more.

please enjoy this epic solo from a man that will play no more.

Posting out of respect to Pottz… God bless

This pic of Eddie at 65 brings back memories of Charles Neil

Both of them were on top of their game to the end…

Sad day, indeed. Legendary. Nice guy too.

Also a happy day, my son takes his very first real guitar lesson today in school.

That is sad news. Smoking has killed so many people in my life.

He was frozen in time in my mind as a twenty something guitar slayer. To see him short haired and gray makes me have to look in the mirror and realize I am defiantly not frozen in time. No gray hair on me but that’s only because no hair at all. I remember buying the LP that had “Running with the devil” and cranking it. RIP

Interesting thing on the morning news was that he wondered if the mouth cancer was caused by him holding guitar picks in his teeth all the time. He doubted the cigarettes were the cause.

yeah he said it was the picks but 40 years of hard smoking probably had more to do with it.

Smoking yes, probably not seeing a dentist is another thing. The first thing a dentist looks for now is throat cancer. I have a friend that did not go to a dentist for a decade. Throat cancer spreads. Go to the dentist .

Yeah,

Another great guitar icon gone. I’d have to give Eddie credit for all my best air guitar moves…and perhaps a few of my past speeding tickets…what he did with a guitar was unbelievable…Always been a guitar hero junkie and a rocker all my life. Got no hair, a graying beard, bifocals and liver spots but when I jam my tunes the freak flag still flies…if only in my mind…; )

Great remembrance Pottz.

Used to smoke…quit twenty plus years ago and hope that my body has healed. Lost a sister to the cigarette so have no love for big tobacco. So harsh how it has taken so many people. Anyone out there who smokes and might be reading this…I know it’s a tough one to kick…but if you want to…keep trying and trying again. Eventually you’ll get there. Like all addictions, the first “quit” usually ain’t the last. Don’t give up!

Weather you like the music style or not, you gotta admire the talent on the axe.
