In the lowes description on framing materials they refer to white wood, what is that pine or other

It usually refers to the true firs, not Douglas, and spruce, and sometimes hemlock.

And, it’s whatever was cheapest at the time. (for HD to buy, not always for us to buy…)

White wood is the lumber equivalent of the generic white can “BEER” you find in the bulk stores. About the only thing you can be sure of is that it is a softwood (coniferous), beyond that you’re on your own.

Yep, the cheapest pine or fir or other softwood they can find in that region at that time.

My understanding is a type of spruce, usually from Canada.
