Help! I’ve sanded down this pine table and then stained it with oil based stain. After I apply the poly things go south. I’m not sure why it’s turning out all blotchy like. The stain that was used is Rustoleum Kona Ultimate Wood Stain. I used Varathane Ultimate Poly Oil Based. This table has been stripped down to bare wood. The first time I did this it turned out fine but left a few brush streaks so I restriped it. Once finished it once again left streaks so I went and bought the correct brush. After sanding it all back down and finishing this is what I was left with. I’ve sanded it back down and applied the stain but I’m not ready to add poly and be disappointed again after a ton of hours put into this project.
