I was cutting some short hardwood and it stopped at the end of the insert plate. It was hard to see what was causing it as the plate was flush. As I looked I saw 2 black tabs/pads that were lower than the plate itself. I raised the the throat plate up a little and it didn’t seem like a good solution so I set it back. It is a very bad spot to have those when they don’t match the height of the rest of the plate. I have a zero cleareance plate but would still like to use this at times.. I think they are an area for the kickback pawls to hit.

Anyone fixed this ?? have the same thing.

I just checked, mine is the same. The black part is just a touch lower than the blue part. It’s never caused me an issue, but I could see how it might with a narrow work piece. Generally to avoid snags I set the front of the insert slightly lower than the table, and the rear (the blue part at least) slightly higher than the table.

Sorry I can’t offer a fix, but at least you know it’s not just you.
