Topic tags/keywords: emmert veritas vise tucker

My first post on any forum ever, please excuse any indiscretions. I bought the contents of an amazing wood shop about seven years ago. I’ve been moving an NOS Veritas Tucker around the country with no real plan on ever using it. I’ve got a couple of Emmerts that I prefer. I would like to sell it. I have seen the other page about the same brand vise listed for what I think is a lot of money. I’m willing to let someone “have it” for $1500 plus shipping.

I have no interest, but for any who might, for 1500 beans they are gonna want to see a buncha pictures, from any and all angles, close enough to see, yet far enough to give a person a good look.

As a seller you should probably just load them here, never know who your buyer will be if they can see what you are selling.

Ohhhh, And welcome to the forum. Interesting first post.

That’s fair. I’ll work on getting some pictures loaded.
I’ve never posted anything to any forum before because I’ve always been looking answers to questions that have already been asked. I just couldn’t find the post where someone was selling my vise for me already.

Honestly now that I actually have an account with a group that I respect I will probably start contributing some.

I didn’t want to just post the vise on eBay. I sort of collect tools but also buy tools especially hand tools to use and I hate getting into bidding wars with others that have more money to spend than I do, and I assume the tools will just sit on a shelf for them and never get used. As a result most of the tools that would be very expensive for me I get much cheaper because there broken but still usable.

But not this vise, it’s perfect.

I don’t know what it sells for new or anything about it. Remove those pictures and clean up the vise. Then post new pictures. With all that rust it looks like it was stored outside. It looks like a $100 garage sale leftover to me. Not here to insult you, but that is not “perfect”.

I paid $700 CDN for mine a year or so before they discontinued them. That rust is troubling but should clean up fine. Definitely affects the worth for any collector out there IMO

Honestly Ebay is gonna be your best bet for something like that has more of a collector value. For someone who wants a vise to use, new ones for $150 work just fine. Thats more for the guy that just has to have that particular vise for whatever reason.

I have a lot of vises on various benches including $150 cheapies. For certain applications and for convenience and accuracy, it’s really hard to beat an Emmert or Veritas.

I became probably overly used to having an Emmert to use in the boat shop I worked in for about ten years, when I was getting my first personal shop going I couldn’t afford one (the only place I was looking was eBay and to be honest I still could t afford one from there) I just bought a K-1 locally that will be my primary vice and I have a turtle back as a secondary.
From what I can find the Veritas vises typically (when they rarely show up) sell for about a grand more than I’m asking. Considering what all I got with the vise from an estate sale and what I sold from it already, I essentially got the vise for free. I just can’t bring myself to sell it super cheap and then see it pop back up somewhere for market value. Honestly that’s why I posted it here first as I thought someone who appreciates it would actually get it and use it not just “collect” it.

I have listed it on eBay though. It’s the first thing I’ve ever tried to sell there.
