Hey guys, I’m in the (slow) process of setting up my new shop. I have been planning on upgrading my 10” bandsaw to a 14”, but I’m not in a huge hurry. I haven’t really decided on a specific model, so when I saw the Jet JWBS14-SFX on sale at Woodcraft, it piqued my interest. My plan was to wait until the shop is ready to go to get a bandsaw. That said, I don’t want to pass this up if it’s a very good deal that I won’t likely see for September time. Note: shipping is also free. -- Joe | Spartanburg, SC | "To give anything less than your best is to sacrafice the gift." - Steve Prefontaine |

well i cant say that saw is a great deal but i can after owning a jet spindle sander,a jet midi lathe,a jet dust collector and a jet drum sander, theve all preformed perfectly with not one issue to date.so with the price reduction and free shipping,id go for it if your ready to pull the plug. -- working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF. |

Hey pottzy, was the omission of that dual Bosch deliberate? I’ve got several Jet machinery and am quite happy, however, they all come from the same production line with different badging… -- If your first cut is too short... Take the second cut from the longer end... LBD |

This link might be gone quick but if this isn’t the kind of project you’d want to hang onto, fix it and at least double your money. -- "Lack of effort will result in failure with amazing predictability" - Me |

Probably a good deal if it’s on sale but I’d buy a Laguna 14” 1412 when they go on sale for $995. JMHO. -- Andy - Seattle USA |

Thanks, Andy. I’m not opposed to the 1412. I know they are both capable machines. If I’m likely to find a deal similar to this one in the not-too-distant future, I’ll probably wait. I should have probably asked the question a different way: is it common for bandsaws in this class to go on sale like this one? -- Joe | Spartanburg, SC | "To give anything less than your best is to sacrafice the gift." - Steve Prefontaine |

Thanks, man. I appreciate that you remembered I’m local. I just don’t have time for that kind of project right now. -- Joe | Spartanburg, SC | "To give anything less than your best is to sacrafice the gift." - Steve Prefontaine |

Another question to pose is opportinity cost... one can wait a long time to save a few shekels and not have the pleasure of the item’s immediate use… also, often when the price comes down, there’s a new release that resurrects the wait conundrum. Also on the topic of Laguna... A Laguna driftmaster is a handy accessory… if you believe in BS drift (not drift BS). -- If your first cut is too short... Take the second cut from the longer end... Thanks for the replies. I have decided to hold off. It sounds like the Jet, Rikon 10-326 and Laguna 1412 go on sale a couple times a year, so I’ll snag one next time. From everything I’ve read, it does seem like most folks prefer the Rikon or Laguna over the Jet. -- Joe | Spartanburg, SC | "To give anything less than your best is to sacrafice the gift." - Steve Prefontaine |

Thanks for spelling “piqued” correctly. -- I admit to being an adrenaline junky; fortunately, I'm very easily frightened |

This one is de-rusted and in my shop now. Waiting on the mobile base to arrive so I only have to pick it up one more time. |

Glad that someone on here was able to snag it. -- "Lack of effort will result in failure with amazing predictability" - Me |

Know that WoodCraft offers both the Laguna 14” and the Rikon 14” on sale for around the same $$$$$ at least once a year for the last 5 to 10 years. Plus the bigger brothers for around 1500 bux. But that Jet would be ok. You DO want to get a 14” STEEL frame BS, not the older technology cast 14” Delta clone if you have resawing in mind, and just for a much better design. -- Think safe, be safe |
