I’ve noticed in a few posts (like https://www.lumberjocks.com/topics/310788 ) that people post designs that appear to have been done on some sort of CAD system. I was just wondering what software you use for that? Any particular recommendations?

The example you pointed to looks like a Sketchup model

For three dimensional structural design Sketchup is good.
For more “artistic” graphic design for scrolling or marquetry for instance, a vector graphic program like Inkscape is good.
